Thunder Road Entertainment is a locally owned and operated family business, founded by the Novstrup family, who first opened the original Thunder Road location in Aberdeen, South Dakota in August 1994. The Sioux Falls location followed in 1996, and both parks have been growing and evolving ever since. Co-owners David and Holly Novstrup and Al and Kathy Novstrup built Thunder Road on a foundation of community, affordability, and genuine fun — values that still drive every decision made at the park today. In 2020, Thunder Road Sioux Falls completed a major expansion, adding a massive indoor entertainment center that brought bowling, laser tag, bumper cars, a 7D theater, and a full arcade under one roof alongside the beloved outdoor attractions. Thunder Road employs approximately 100 people across its locations — from high school students landing their first job to experienced managers who have grown with the brand for years. The park also actively supports the Sioux Falls community through a donation request program that helps local schools, churches, and nonprofits raise funds through entertainment experiences. At Thunder Road, fun is the product — but community is the mission.
